Yes - you can use our UK or EU Desk/Table/Floor Lamps can be used in Canada or the USA with a few simple adjustments.
What do I need to change?
There are two main things to consider:
π 1. The plug
UK plugs are different from North American sockets.
- You can use a plug adapter for a quick fix
- Or, for a cleaner long-term solution, you can replace the plug with a US/Canada plug
π Please note:
Using a plug adapter does not change the voltage. Because North America uses a lower voltage, you may notice:
- The light appears dimmer than usual
- In some cases, slight flickering, particularly with certain bulb types
Replacing the plug and using the correct bulb will usually give the best results.
π‘ 2. The bulb & bulb holder
This is the most important step.
- UK bulbs are designed for higher voltage (230β240V)
- North America uses lower voltage (110β120V)
β To ensure the lamp works properly:
- Always use a 120V bulb
Most UK lamps use an E27 screw fitting, while North America commonly uses E26.
π Important:
120v E27 bulbs can be difficult to source in Canada and the USA. For this reason, we do recommend having an electrician change the bulb holder to an E26 fitting. However, please be aware that this will void the warranty.
