If your Anglepoise lamp is not lighting up or the bulb is flickering, it's most likely to be an issue with the bulb itself OR the contacts within the bulb holder.
- Check that the bulb is fully screwed into the bulb holder
- Replace the bulb with a good, known working bulb (see rating label in the shade to ensure a suitable bulb
After following these checks, If the lamp still fails to switch on or flickers, it may be due to insufficient contact between the bulb holder and the bulb.
For these next checks and before continuing, the lamp MUST be disconnected from the mains electricity supply. To be sure, unplug it from the wall socket
First, unplug the lamp from the wall socket |

With the lamp safely disconnected from the mains electricity supply, remove the bulb from the bulb holder
|

Using a small flat-bladed screwdriver gently prise the central contact upwards to reset its position. |

Refit the bulb, and then plug the lamp back into the mains electricity and test (switch on off a few times).

After following these steps, If the lamp is not lighting up at all, then check the fuse in the plug, by swapping it out for a known working one.
